What You Need to Know About Skin Peels

Peels

Living at altitude and exposing our skin to the elements can cause a thick layer of buildup, making lines and spots more noticeable. Fall is a good time of the year to shed these layers and give the skin a boost of energy before you expose it to the winter sun.

Peeling the skin promotes new skin growth, removing old damaged skin and replacing it with shiny, youthful and healthy skin. The long term benefits incllude increased collagen production, which improves the quality of the skin. Most noticeable is the immediate change in texture and often color as the layers begin to shed and new healthier skin is formed, revealing a healthy glowing appearance.

“I went to see Julianne after looking at my brown age spots for long enough,” Elizabeh A. shared. “Not only was she able to erase those, but she also, with a six-session peel, evened out my skin tone and texture, not an easy task on 50-year-old, sun damaged skin. Most appreciated was the thorough skin care education that I somehow never learned previously. I knew, of course, to keep my skin clean and to try to remember to use sunscreen, but I was not aware of the need to exfoliate and ‘feed’ my skin. Julianne carries carefully researched products and knows what to use and when.”

Having a peel does not prevent you from going to work or doing other activities. We recommend a series of three for first-time clients, beginning slow, with very little down time, increasingly becoming  more stimulating with each treatment, depending on the results you desire and your current lifestyle. There are peels for every skin type, a variety of acids and applications, so it is best for an Esthetician to help you decide the best one for your skin type.
